Lights On, by Annaka Harris
Lights On: How Understanding Consciousness Helps Us Understand the Universe was published as an audiobook in March 2025.
“As accessible as it is awe-inspiring, this exclusive audio documentary by New York Times bestselling author Annaka Harris explores the unknown corners of consciousness and the cosmos.”
Is consciousness a fundamental building block of the universe, like gravity? Can humans develop new senses through neuroscience? And can artificial intelligence ever truly replicate the subjective experience of being conscious?

Grover's algorithm
A quantum computing algorithm devised by Lov Grover in 1996, and not named for a certain blue muppet, even though that's how your brain might feel after trying to wrap your brain around it.
So, good luck.

Do we see reality as it is? by Donald Hoffman
Cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman is trying to answer a big question: Do we experience the world as it really is ... or as we need it to be? In this ever so slightly mind-blowing talk, he ponders how our minds construct reality for us.
Galileo's Error By Philip Goff
Galileo's Error, Foundations for a New Science of Consciousness was published in 2020, was an argument in favor of panpsychism.
“Philip Goff argues for a new approach to the scientific study of consciousness. He offers an accessible and compelling analysis of why our felt experience continues to elude scientific explanation and why the theories that describe consciousness as a fundamental feature of matter have been neglected—and why they now deserve serious consideration. This is a must-read for anyone interested in the future of consciousness studies.”

The film "Conclave" is seen as remarkably accurate, even by cardinals, a cleric told POLITICO.
The film was released four months before Pope Francis’ death on April 21 and provided an extraordinarily well-timed primer for millions of people who developed a sudden thirst for to-the-minute updates on papal front-runners and ecclesiastical intrigue after the real-world version was set in motion.

Jon Hamm’s fun new drama is like The White Lotus back from holiday
“Your Friends & Neighbours is Breaking Bad with rich folks. It is also, as Cooper uncovers juicy secrets in every apparently perfect home, Desperate Housewives with husbands. And, as it immerses us in the absurdities of rich people in New York, The White Lotus back from holiday.”
Per Jim, it's also a study on how too much money often leads to social isolation.

The Ipcress File by Len Deighton
Deighton's first spy novel, published in 1962.
The story was made into a film in 1965 produced by Harry Saltzman, directed by Sidney J. Furie and starring Michael Caine. This film and its sequels were a deliberately downbeat alternative to the hugely successful James Bond films.
It was also made 2022 TV series, starring Joe Cole, Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander.
