S5.31 (#145) I’ve learned to live with a lot of things

The Minotaur
A famous monster in Ancient Greek mythology, usually portrayed with the body of a man and the head of a bull, the Minotaur resided at the center of the Labyrinth, designed specifically to hide him from view at the request of King Minos.
With the help of Ariadne, Theseus eventually managed to kill the Minotaur.

Darkman
A 1990 American superhero horror film directed and co-written by Sam Raimi. Scientist Peyton Westlake is brutally attacked, disfigured, and left for dead. An experimental treatment gives Westlake super-human strength. Consumed with vengeance, Westlake continues his research with the new goal of hunting down those who disfigured him.
Based on Raimi's written homage to horror films of the 1930s, and influenced by his desire to adapt The Shadow.

Dark City
A 1998 tech noir film that received generally positive critiques, but was a box-office bomb. It is now widely considered a sci-fi cult classic.
The film was nominated for the Hugo and six Saturn Awards. Some noted its potential influence on the Matrix film series.
Downtown Boston's street layout is slightly more random than the Dark City.

The Crow
A 1994 film based on the 1989 comic book series by James O'Barr. It stars Brandon Lee in his final film role, as Eric Draven, a rock musician who is resurrected from the dead to seek vengeance against the gang who murdered him and his fiancée. Lee was fatally wounded by a prop gun during filming. The film is dedicated to Lee and his fiancée, Eliza Hutton.
Many Gen X goths found each other through this film, or at least the soundtrack.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
A 2023 fantasy heist comedy based on Dungeons & Dragons. It has no connections to the previous film trilogy released between 2000 and 2012.
It does not suck.

Burn After Reading
2008 star-studded, black comedy film by Joel and Ethan Coen. It follows a recently jobless CIA analyst whose misplaced memoirs are found by a pair of dimwitted gym employees. When they mistake the memoirs for classified government documents, they undergo a series of misadventures in an attempt to profit from their find.
